WATER CHILLER
water chiller created using CW-5000 laser cutter tube cooler.
OBJECTIVE
provide cool water for individuals working in high-temperature environments without continual access to ice.
CONSTRAINTS
- the water contained within the drinking vessel must remain food safe.
- the system must operate without needing to have ice refilled.
- the only inputs to the system must be:
- potable water
- electricity
CONSTRUCTION
water chiller is constructed using 20ft coiled copper tubing 3/8" OD, attached to 3/8" ID PVC tubing. the PVC tubing is used as a flexible coupling between the rigid copper tube and the tube cooler.
to maintain food safety - only the copper portion of the chiller is allowed to come into contact with the potable water
for this local implementation, the PVC tubing is used to keep the tube cooler outside of a collection of 10x10 sun tents.
